The San Francisco Startup hopes to revolutionize the practice of medicine.
San Francisco, California, June 27, 2017 (ResultCare) –
ResultCare, a San Francisco based company, has been selected as one of 23 companies to join SkyDeck as part of the Fall 2017 cohort. SkyDeck is a highly competitive startup accelerator, which was formed as a partnership between UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, the College of Engineering, and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research. ResultCare was selected following two-rounds of in person interviews, competing against over 250 other startups all hoping to bring change into their particular fields. Forbes magazine recently named SkyDeck as one of the “Best Startup Accelerators of 2017”.
The company was founded by ResultCare’s CEO Arman Jahangiri, during his HHMI fellowship at UCSF. ResultCare’s mission is to empower global healthcare providers through evidence-based medicine, real-time collaboration, and cost-effective information. SkyDeck is the ideal partner to foster the young healthcare startup as they expand its platform to medical institutions across the United States.
“We’ve worked diligently to create a technology that actually empowers healthcare providers, rather than to add on to their long list of burdens,” says Arman, who hopes that their platform will go on to “actually allow physicians to use the pertinent research selected from hundreds of thousands of papers published annually in order to provide the best care for their patients while reducing cost.”
New technology companies who are daring to solve the challenges of the medical industry are confronted with extreme barriers and challenges when entering into the sector. ResultCare has separated itself by creating a team of physicians, scientists, and entrepreneurs who are more than familiar with this climate and can empathize with healthcare providers.
"Today's physician is struggling to provide the best healthcare in a cost effective manner while trying to stay ahead of an avalanche of new medical information," says Dr. Tim Hamill, a key member of their team who has joined as the Chief Medical Officer. He perhaps understands this problem better than anyone, as he was the former Director of Laboratory Medicine at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco for over two decades. Tim is a board certified physician in Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology, as well as the immediate past President of the California Society of Pathologists. Dr. Hamill is excited to lead the company "to provide physicians with an easy to use, evidence based tool that helps them achieve their goals."
ResultCare's product development is spearheaded by Co-founder and CTO Nick von Sternberg, a computer scientist who holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering, and VP of Mobile Development Sterling Ingwers, a UC Davis alumnus and former Android Developer at Adobe. The startup has also brought on Ishan Kanungo, a UC Berkeley alumnus and former research associate in UCSF's Department of Neurological Surgery, as Chief Operating Officer. Committed to developing the bright minds of tomorrow, the team has welcomed Henry Skrehot, Jennifer Gao, and Jamie Chen, all of whom are from UC Berkeley as well.
